During their married life, they lived on in the country where John was a farmer and they raised their large family. According to one source, John reached the rank of lieutenant. It must have been in the local militia before the revolution.
Jeffrey Mills tells me that John drowned in 1760 in the Housatonic River while crossing at the rapids near Bull's Tavern in Kent. His wife lived another 38 years.
