Barkley Bradshaw Passes Away
After a period of decline in health extending over two yers, Barkley R. Bradshaw died of tuberculosis Monday morning at 2 o'clock. His death was not unexpected as his condition had been bad for some time.
For most of his 41 years he had been a resident of this community. He was well liked by all who knew him and his untimely passing when he should have been in the prime of life regretted by scores of friend.
The funeral service was conducted at the grave in the City cemetery Tuesday afternonn by Rev. W. K. Moore. A quartet composed of J.W. Esslinger, R.L. McLeod, D.W. Rigg and Dr. J.T. Muir sang the hymns. The pallbearers were: D.C. Adams, B.H. Day, Chas. Hagood, H.I. Laytham, J.D. Loudermilk and Frank Miller.
The decedent was the son of Charles A. and Bettie Bradshaw and was born May 3, 1879, on the Bradshaw place west of town, the fourth son in a family of eight children. He was graduated from the high school under Prof. Jeter and read law under Atty. W.A. Mussetter but did not seek admission to the bar. He leaves four brothers and two sisters, namely Edward Bradshaw of Eagle Bend, Miss., Mrs. Jo Raines of Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Lizzie Smith, Chas. A. and Norman Bradshaw of this place and James L. Bradshaw of Abingdon, Ill.
Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were O.B. Garrett of Cloverton, Minn., Mrs. Laura Raines of Palmyra, Mrs. Crawford Adams of Ewing, Eugene Collins of East St. Louis and Earl Bradshaw until recently of Jefferson Barracks, Mo
