Loren Helmers, 47, Kenmare, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2009 in a Minot hospital.
Loren was born December 18, 1961 at the Kenmare Deaconess Hospital to Eddie and Mildred (Teigen) Helmers. He was raised in Donnybrook and attended Donnybrook High School. He joined the National Guard and later received a medical discharge.
Loren worked as a volunteer for many years for the Carpio and Kenmare ambulance service, and the Donnybrook Fire Department. He also worked for the Carpio Post Office as a mail carrier. Loren enjoyed working with his dad, Eddie, doing carpentry work and helping raise large gardens for the Farmer's Markets. He worked at MTI in Kenmare, the Kenmare Country Club, and was currently employed as a bus driver for the Commission on Aging in Kenmare.
Loren loved working with people. He always thought about other people before himself. He had a heart of gold.
Those who shared in his life, Parents, Eddie and Mildred Helmers; sister and brother-in-law, Rita (Craig) Fred; brother, Gerry Helmers; one niece, Jessica Fred; two nephews, Kelsey (Becky) Fred and Jacob (Jada) Fred; one great-niece, five great-nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral: Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, ND.
Visitation: Tuesday, September 22, 2009, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare, ND.
Burial: Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Grano Cemetery, Grano, ND.

Following the service everyone is invited to join the family for lunch and fellowship in the church fellowship hall.
We will be leaving the church in procession around 1:00 p.m. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to drive with both headlights and hazard lights on, following the car in front as close as safety permits. At the cemetery, please follow the family to the graveside for the final prayers.
Our family would like to thank each of you for the many acts of kindness shown during Loren's illness, and now at this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten.
