John Montgomery Ward
Birth: Mar. 3, 1860
Centre County
Pennsylvania, USA
Death: Mar. 4, 1925
Richmond County
Georgia, USA

Hall of Fame Major League Baseball Player. A trailblazer in sports history, unionism, and race relations. This orphan set the most baseball records next to Babe Ruth. While still playing, attorney Ward unionized and fought to integrate major league baseball in the 1880's. John Ward led a player revolt which created a player-run and financed major league. He was one of the first American-born golf stars and wrote one of the first baseball books. This Hall of Famer pitcher/shortstop is the only player with over 150 wins and 2000 hits. (bio by: David Stevens)
