Legendary football coach of the Maryland Terrapins from 1947-1955 with an .815 winning percentage. His team won the national championship in 1953 and Tatum was voted Coach of the Year. He also coached at his alma mater, North Carolina from 1956 to 1958. He coached one year, 1946, at the University of Oklahoma where he was followed by legendary coach, Bud Wilkinson.
