Gerald Ernest Asay, passed away at his home on October 15, 2009 after an eight month battle with lung cancer. He was born June 13, 1937 in Murray, Utah to Ernest LaGrande and Lucile Judd Asay. He grew up in Sandy and attended Jordan High School. He served in the US Marine Corps for eight years. He worked off shore on the oil rigs, and owned his own business in Houma, Louisiana, then retired to work on the internet gathering history and family names. He brought many Asay family members together with his internet family history searches. He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey; two daughters, Darlene (Bobby) Duvall, Samantha (Yurgen) Coombs; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two step-children, Ave Moore and Ricky DelCambre and four step grandchildren; his mother, Lucille; brother, Lee (Lynette); sisters, Linda (LeLand) Richins, LuAnn (Bart) Holfeltz; his best friend and neighbor, Lindsay Brady; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He donated his body to science research, but there will be a Memorial Service at the LDS Chapel in Houma, Louisiana, on November 7th, 2009.
