Birth: unknown
Arkansas, USA
Death: Apr. 24, 2009
Washington County

Punkin was a Basset Hound/Beagle mix. She was a rescued dog, having reportedly been thrown out of a moving vehicle into heavy traffic. She was taken into rescue, and was eventually adopted by a family who kept her from 2001 until her passing. She was a very sweet "mama dog", keeping watch over the little toy-sized dogs in her adopted canine family (Genghis, Julius, Annabel Lee, and the late Millicent--see obit for Millicent Woof on this site). She was a very sweet animal, and lived happily as an indoor dog. Like many hounds, she liked to "talk". She also seemed to have no idea that she wasn't a toy-sized dog like the others, and saw no good reason why she shouldn't be a lap dog, too. She became seriously ill several times, but always seemed to recover. But she eventually died of natural causes at home, surrounded by human and canine friends. There was a tree she often enjoyed sleeping underneath, and that is now her resting place.
