The son of Peter & Mary Halliock, he married Joanna Mapes, daughter of Joseph & Keziah Parshall Mapes, on September 20, 1750 in Mattituck, NY.

He is called in the "Hallock Ancestry" as Major, but record show that he was a private in Col. Josiah Smith's Regt & Capt. of an armed vessel that patrolled Long Island Sound against the British during the Revolutionary War.
