Robert Lee "Bob" Caldwell, 90, of Gallipolis, left this life on Monday July 6, 2015, at the Jenkins Care Community in Wellston.

Born Sept. 16, 1924, in Gallipolis, he was the son of the late Edgar Caldwell and the late Artie Dulaney Caldwell McDaniel.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Edgar Ray Caldwell and Barton and Phyllis Caldwell; and stepfather Cecil McDaniel.

Bob was a World War II veteran, serving in the Navy Air Corp for six years. He retired from GSI/GDC and owned and operated the family grocery store in Kyger.

He was a member of Bulaville Christian Church and VFW 4464.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Annabelle Holcomb Caldwell, whom he married in 1978; two children, David (Treva) Caldwell, of Gallipolis, and Phyllis (Pete) Newman, of Ironton; two stepchildren, Roger (Susan) Morgan and Patricia (Tom) White, of Gallipolis; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery, where military honors will be presented by the U.S. Navy and the Gallia County Veteran Funeral Detail. Friends may call the funeral home on Saturday between noon and the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Paul Wayne Higgenbotham, Gary Tenney, Tim Caldwell, Shannon Belville, Jim Kemper and Pete Newman.
