Janie Lee Smith, 58, of Slater, died Monday, March 6, 2006, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at United Methodist Church of Slater. Elder F. Jonathan White will officiate. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 10, at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Marshall and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Slater.

Born May 12, 1947, in Gilliam, she was the daughter of the late Moses White and Etta Mae Williams White, who survives of Slater. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Slater and was a licensed practical nurse at the Marshall Habilitation Center.

Additional survivors include her husband, Herbert Smith of Slater; one son, William James Parker Jr. of Marshall; two sisters, Anna Mae White of Slater and Joann Eubanks of Boonville; four brothers, Levi Lee White of Upper Marlboro, Md., Henry T. White of Marshall, F. Jonathan White of St. Louis and Thomas Alphonso White of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
