Patricia Ruth Newbold Brunow, age 83 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at her home.

Patricia Ruth Newbold was born on July 15, 1928 in Saint Louis, Missouri, the second of five children born to Cyrus Newbold and Edna Jack Newbold. Pat attended Centerville schools, participating in activities such as girls' basketball and marching band. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1946 and went to Fort Madison to work for the Schaeffer Pen Company. Pat met Phil Brunow of Centerville who was working for the Chicago, Burlington, & Quincy Railroad in Fort Madison, and they were married in Fort Madison on April 24, 1948. The couple returned to Centerville to live and for the next sixty-four years they made their home on Wall Street between 12th and Main. Pat and Phil are the parents of three children; John(1949), Jane(1955 to 2008), and Jeff(1962).

Pat was active in community organizations such as the Drake Avenue Christian Church, Tri T, PEO, and the Appanoose County Democrats. She was known for her excellent cooking and baking, and especially enjoyed decorating her home, socializing with friends and family, and watching sports. Pat Brunow died at home on May 16, 2012. She is survived by her husband, Phil; children: John(Celia)of Jefferson, IA, Jeff of Dodge City, KS, and son-in-law Scott Dearinger of Des Moines, IA; grand children: Jessica Brunow Holloway(Drew)of Seattle, Jacob Brunow(Sammy)of Richmond, VA, Sara Brunow of Silver Spring, MD, Samantha Shondell of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Luke Dearinger of Des Moines, IA; and great grandchildren: Cyrus Brunow, Mira and Sadie Holloway, and Alaina Shondell. Pat is also survived by her sister Jo Newton of Niota, IL, sister-in-law Ann Newbold of Tucson, AZ, and brothers Bill(Jody)and Mike(Lynn)Newbold of Boone, IA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service in Pat's honor will be held 11 am, June 2, 2012 at the Drake avenue Christian Church in Centerville. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Patricia Ruth Newbold Memorial Fund.
