GREENSBORO, NC — Mr. John Herbert Burton, 91, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Moses Cone Hospital.
He and his wife would have celebrated their 70th Wedding anniversary on October 14, 2010.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm Sunday at Grace Community Church, 643 West Lee Street, Greensboro with the Reverend Roy Ward officiating.
Burial followed at Gethsemane United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Burton owned Burton's Auto Service in Greensboro.
He loved Soap Box Derby Racing, the outdoors and his gardens.
Mr. Burton is survived by his loving wife Marceline L. Burton; son, Johnny Burton (Debra) of Snead's Ferry; daughters, Barbara Wells (James) of Mebane, Jacky Dowd (Mark) of Burlington, Jerry Phillips (Bob), Janice Burton all of Greensboro; included in his family are Chuck Smith (Kathy) of Jamestown, and Len Peeples (Sharon) of Greensboro; eleven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
