HELEN EMSWELLER
Mrs. Helen Mary Burchard Emsweller, 63 R.R.9, Hillcrest Addition, died unexpectedly Sunday at 3:45 p.m. She was stricken while attending the reception for Dr. D. D. Dickson at the First Baptist Church. She had been in failing health for two years.
Mrs. Emsweller was born May 29, 1912 in Rushville and her parents were the Rev. Harry Burchard and Mrs. Iva Brown Burchard Bury, who are both deceased.
She had lived in Hillcrest Addition for nine years and prior to that had lived in the Batesville community for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Batesville.
She married Verl E. Emsweller May 21, 1928 in Brookville and he preceded her in death August 1, 1956.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Ruth) Miller, Greensburg, Mrs. Gerald (Velma) McClain, Batesville, Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Rosemeyer, R.R.2, Sunman, and Mrs. Robert (Mary Dianne) Holzbacher, R.R.2, Sunman; two sons, Everett Emsweller, R.R.3, Batesville, and Kenneth D. Emsweller, Knob Noster, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Ruth) Meyerrose and Mrs. James (Iris) Stone, both of Greensburg; one brother, Harry B. Bury, Arlington, Tex.; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Timothy Rosemeyer.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home with the Revs. Richard and Susan Ruach, pastors of Mrs. Emsweller's home church, the United Methodist Church of Batesville, officiating. Burial will be in the Clarksburg Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
