George Baker was a farmer and a lawyer. In 1898 he was serving as the Clay county Attorney General. He was murdered by James Howard during what became know as the Howard-Baker feud in April of 1898. A detailed report of the incident and the history of the feud which began in the 1840's is recorded in the Hopkinsville Kentuckian newspaper dated June 20, 1899.
