Son of Joseph and Phoebe (Whiteside) Jones; moved to Marion, Grant County, Indiana about 1895.
Occupation: Laborer. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army on February 7, 1914 and was
sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio. Transferred to Fort Benjamin Harrison,
Indianapolis, Indiana; assigned to Company D, 14th Infantry. Transferred to U.S.
guard duty in Nome, Alaska where he was frozen to death on July 25, 1917.
