Shirley Ruth Rice was born October 7, 1939 in Brashear, MO, the daughter of Ed Parrish and Florence (Barnhill) Parrish. She passed away September 17, 2011 at Birch Tree Place in Birch Tree, MO at the age of 71 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Florence Parrish; her best friend Sylvia Nicholson and her companion Herb Mason.

Shirley is survived by one son Robert Rice of Springfield, MO; one daughter Anita Woodburn and husband William of Birch Tree, MO; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

She made toys, dolls and teddy bears at her shop, Shirley's Kids, in Birch Tree, MO for 25 years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Birch Tree, MO with Priestess Anita Woodburn officiating. Interment was in Montier Cemetery in Montier, MO under the direction of Duncan Funeral Homes of Birch Tree, MO.
