Funeral service for Evelyn Burleigh will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 t0 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
She passed away on September 20, 2011 in the Rocky Mountain Care Center surrounded by her children.
Evelyn was born April 9, 1920, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the second child of Ernest and Mae McKinnon. She spent her childhood in Randolph, Utah, and graduated from South Rich High School in Randolph.
She married Weldon Burleigh of Evanston on June 27, 1940, in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived all their married life in Evanston and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 27, 1990. Weldon passed away Nov 11, 1996.
She is survived by her children: Geri (Gaylen) Hoopes of Afton, Wyoming; Jan Virchow of Springville, Utah; George (Elaine) Burleigh of Ogden, Utah; and Larry (Julie) Burleigh of Evanston. She has been blessed with 18 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Weldon G. Burleigh, her parents, Sisters: Kathryn Rogers, Emma Lucy Thornock, and Ruth Cantone Lane, and a grandson, Craig Hoopes and a great grandson, Loren Verchow.
Interment will be in the Evanston City Cemetery
