Mary Emily Murray was the daughter of Stewart Frazier Murray and Harriet Elizabeth Hughes. She married as his second wife, Harry Eastman Crummer, in Protection, Comanche Co, KS, 15 Sep 1892.
Her obituary is found in an unknown Rockford newspaper, 1942.
Mary Crummer Dies Suddenly
Widow of Realtor Taken Ill During Night;
In Rockford for 32 Years
Taken suddenly ill during the night, Mrs. Mary E. Crummer, 73, widow of H. E. Crummer, Rockford realtor, died at 4:40 a.m. today at her home, 1315 Evelyn street.
She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Ralph S. Groves of Rockford, Mrs. Malden Barker of Rochelle, Ill., Mrs. Robert Sheaff of Holcomb, Ill., and Mrs. Howard East of Oak Park, Ill.; two sons, Roy E. of Winter Park, Fla., and Chicago, and Murray T. of Omaha, Neb.; and a sister, Mrs. D.E. Dunne of Wichita, Kan.
The daughters were at their mother's bedside when she died, and the sons are en route to Rockford. The sons are associated in the investment company which bears their name, and a daughter, Mrs. Barker, was society editor of the Rockford Daily Republic before her marriage. Mrs. Crummer`s husband died six years ago, and a son, Harry, Jr., also predeceased her.
Born Aug. 4, 1869, in Murrayville, Ill., Mrs. Crummer was taken as a child to western Kansas by her pioneering parents. There she married on Sept. 15, 1892, and the Crummers came to Rockford about 1910.
Mrs. Crummer was active in affairs of the First Presbyterian church and built up a wide friendship among the younger people.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Burpee Wood funeral home, 420 North Main street. Dr. W.H. Fulton, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate, and burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
