September 19, 1993 - August 2, 2013

Alex Barnes died in a tragic car accident on August 2nd, 2013. He was born and raised in Salem. In 2012 he moved with his family to the Shaw area of Aumsville. Alex attended Lamb Elementary School, Stephens Middle School and was a graduate of McKay High School Class of 2012. He found his calling in the automotive, construction and woodworking programs at McKay. He was continuing his education at Chemeketa Community College. Alex worked for Nanneman Farms and was thankful for his summer job working with the Nanneman family and their crew.

During his senior year he worked on a school project involved with Habitat for Humanity in the construction of homes, this was especially meaningful to Alex. He was the youngest member of the Salem Area Garden Club and helped with many of their community projects, receiving their Outstanding Service Award in December of 2012.

Alex is survived by his parents, Dennis and Wendy Barnes; brother D.J. Barnes; grandparents Charles Wenger, Cecil and Phyllis Barnes and his beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dorine Wenger and step-grandmother Rose Barnes. There are no words to express how much we will miss Alex; he was a bright and shining light in our lives. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 10 at City View Funeral Home and Cemetery.
