DEATH OF WILLIAM CAVE
William Cave died at his home on South Main street last night at 9:30 o'clock. He had been bedfast for two weeks.

Mr. Cave was born at Greencastle, Ind., Feb. 21, 1826, was married to Mrs. Margaret Palmer, nee Eshelman, at Memphis, Mo., March 5th, 1848. The coming 5th of March would have been their golden wedding.

Four children were born of this union, two of whom are now living and were present at the death bed, John Jacob Cave, age 48, of Galena, and Mrs. S.C. Scovell, aged 46, of Peoria, Ill. Mrs. Scovell is minister in charge of the Spiritual Science of Peoria. Mrs. Geo. L. Zink, wife of the Hon. Geo. L. Zink, of Litchfield, Ill., a sister of Mr. Cave, has been with him from the first, he being the eldest and she the youngest of nine children.

Mr. and Mrs. Cave came to Galena in 1880. He has been engaged in the grocery business until failing health compelled him to dispose of his business, since which time he has invested in mines with good success and leaves his widow in comfortable circumstances.

This death breaks the link of five generations. Mrs. Lucinda Cave, his mother, still lives at the age of ninety years, and a grandchild, Margaret Sanders, age two years, completes the fifth generation. The mother resides with Mrs. Zink at Litchfield.

The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 from the Christian church.
