Edith May Blandy was born on December 31, 1865, in Battersea, London, England, to Theophilus Thomas Blandy and Rachel Anne Bridge. She married William Raine Flaskett in London on March 7, 1889. They emigrated to the US later that month, landing in New York from Liverpool. They made their way to South Dakota, but didn't stay long. In early 1890, William went west to Tacoma and found work right away as a flutist for the Tacoma Orchestra, and as a stenographer. He sent for his family as soon as he had the money. She and William had 5 girls, Coralie, Evelyn, Gladys, Dorothy and Edith. Edith died on July 14, 1946 at the age of 80.
