James "Fowler" Cooper, 94, died Tuesday May 10, in Meeker Nursing Center.
He was born Feb. 12, 1911, in Tennessee to William A.Cooper and Nora McMahan-Cooper.
Fowler spent most of his life in Shawnee but moved to Meeker 20 years ago.
He married Opal May Cooper in 1981 in Shawnee.
Fowler was a carpenter and had worked many years at Oklahoma Baptist University.
He was a member of the Meeker Christian Church and Meeker Masonic Lodge.
Fowler enjoyed carpentry. He built many clocks for the family and friends over the years.
He was proceded in death by his parents and his wife, Opal May Cooper, on April 3, 2003.
Survivors include his daughter, Wanda Helms of Scottsdale, Ariz; sister DeLila Nelson of Shawnee; brother, Lillard Cooper and his wife, Lucille, of Amarillo, Texas; granddaughter, Judy Fletcher of Meeker; niece Cristy Wilkinson and her husband, David , of Amarillo; four nephews, Carl and Lois McGlothin of Oregan; Dr.Lynn and Pattie McGlothin of Idaho; Bill and Linda Boland of Calera; Dr. Anthony and Julia Thomas of Midwest City; several great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends.
Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Glen Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
