Mrs. Elizabeth Hawkins Condrey, 82, of 275 Beason Road, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at home. Born in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Zeno and Margaret Hawkins. She taught elementary school at Avondale, Harris, Caroleen and Tri-Elementary schools for many years before retiring. She was a member of Cliffside Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Hawkins and Alfred (Buck) Hawkins; and two sisters, Meredith (Daughter) Hawkins and Lila (Sister) Hawkins Hodge. She is survived by her husband, Robert Charles Condrey; two sons, Ronald Charles Condrey and wife, Lou Newman, of Raleigh and John Walton Condrey of Cliffside; a sister, Catherine Hawkins Smart of Cliffside; two sisters-in-law, Laverne (Bud) Black of Cliffside and Corene Barnett Condrey of Forest City; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Cliffside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Fleming officiating. Burial will follow in Cliffside Cemetery.
