George Charleston Carnes, 78, of Richmond, passed away suddenly on April 22, 2003.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Cecil Carnes; daughters, Janice J. Hayzlett and Georgette D. Carnes; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Nita and George Harris; grandchildren, Mark and Lori Harris, Emily and Amanda Hayzlett, Kristen and Charles Steele, and Thomas Thacker; stepgrandson, David Harris and his wife, Theresa; great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Elizabeth Harris; sisters, Lorene Dawson, Polly Wilson and her husband, Bernard; brothers, Thomas Fred Carnes, W.S. Carnes and Jimmy "Neil" Carnes. He was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Lanyon.

Mr. Carnes retired from Philip Morris with 37 years of service, and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.
