Vincent Leo Krogmeier, 80, of rural Holyoke, Colo. died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at St. Anthony Central Hospital in Denver, Colo. He was born July 6, 1929, in Fort Madison. He was the fourth of nine children born to Alois S. and Elva Pearl (Greene) Krogmeier. He was of the Catholic faith.

He attended school at Sacred Heart Grade School until the ninth grade when he left to help on the family farm near Fort Madison. He moved with his family to Phillips County, Colo. in 1946.

He was married May 5, 1958, to Jacqueline Ella-Marie Hodgden at St. Joseph's Cathedral in St. Joseph, Mo. They spent their first year in Holyoke, moved to Amherst the next year and lived there until 1977 when they moved to a farm northeast of Holyoke where he lived for the rest of his life.

He was a charter member of the Holyoke Council of the Knights of Columbus and he served for a number of years on the Amherst Volunteer Fire Department and the board of directors of the Amherst Cooperative.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph, Tom and Gene; and sister, Betty. He is survived by Jackie, his wife of 52 years; sisters, Shirley and Delores; brothers, Bill and Phillip; children, Jim (wife Julie) and children; Janet (husband Patrick) Mitchell and children; Paul (wife Laura) and children; Judy Studer (husband Paul) and children; Ernie (wife Stephanie) and children; and Joe (wife Stacey); and many more nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial was held June 21, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Holyoke with Rev. William Jungmann presiding. Interment was at the Holyoke Cemetery. Services were provided by Baucke Funeral Home of Holyoke. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Holyoke or to the Melissa Memorial Hospital Foundation.
