The son of Mr & Mrs William Higgins.

He married Caroline Winey. To this union eight children were born.

Survivors include sons Thomas, Leslie, Frank & Archie, daughters Nettie Collier & Mrs V.J. Ream, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, sister Mrs Phillip Hass, brothers William & Michael.

Andrew Jackson Higgins

The death of Andrew Jackson Higgins, retired farmer and resident of Crawford County, occurred at his home three miles west of Cherokee, Monday morning, July 21. For the last few years his health has gradually declined. The direct cause of his death was cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Higgins was 75 years and 3 days old.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Higgins, were residents of Allen's Grove, Ia. when the subject of this sketch was born, July 18, 1855. here his marriage to Caroline Winey occurred. To this union were born eight children, two of which preceded Mr. Higgins to the grave; four sons, Thomas Higgins of Padroni, Colo.; Leslie Higgins of Severence, Kansas; Frank Higgins of Pittsburg; and Archie Higgins of the home. two daughters, Nettie Collier of the home and Mrs. V.J. Ream of West Fork, Arkansas. Others who remain to mourn are ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, one sister, Mrs. Phillip Hass of Nevada, Ia.; two brothers, William Higgins and Michael Higgins of Kingfisher, Okla.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In 1902 the family moved to Oklahoma, and twelve years later to this state where he has lived until his death.

Funeral services were conducted from the home Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Sturgell. Interment was in the Cherokee City cemetery. The pall bearers were Mr. Jess Mock, Mr. O.P. Turkington, Mr. D.H. Huston, Mr. Will McClure, Mr. Lee Whitney, Mr. Gus Autem.
