"JoAnn M. (Salesky) Heeringa, beloved daughter, sister and aunt passed, away Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at Martin Luther Home following a lengthy illness. Age 65 years. The daughter of Mildred (Paszkiewicz) Salesky and the late Omer Salesky, JoAnn was born November 29, 1938 in Saginaw, MI. She was married to Jack Heeringa on August 24, 1963. He predeceased her in June of 1991. JoAnn graduated from Central Michigan University with her degree in teaching and earned her Masters Degree from Michigan State University. She had taught in Nuernberg, Germany, and then for 24 years at Godwin Heights School in Grand Rapids retiring in 1986. JoAnn was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and a past member of St. Robert Catholic Church in Ada, Michigan. She enjoyed traveling, watching birds and was a member of the Audobon. JoAnn's family extends their special thanks to the staff of Martin Luther Home for the loving care they provided for her. JoAnn was preceded in death by her father, Omer Salesky.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2004 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. David Parsch will officiate, with burial in St. Andrew's Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. Friends may call at Holy Spirit Catholic Church where the family will be present on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Holy Spirit Catholic Church."
