Frederick was born in Long Beach, CA and was living with his father in Lomita, as his parents were divorced when he enlisted in the Marines 26 February 1968, at a Los Angeles Recruiting Office. He enlisted in the Marines 3 months after his 18th birthday.
Frederick took his boot camp training at the San Diego MCRD and graduated 20 May 1968 with Platoon 350.
Horridge arrived in Vietnam 21 August 1968 and was assigned to the 1st Platoon of Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.
Frederick was walking point for 1st Platoon when he walked into an ambush in and NVA bunker complex. Frederick and the two Marines behind him were killed during the ambush.
He died as a result of gunshot wounds to the head and body from hostile rifle fire in the vinicity of DMZ and 8 kilometers west of Lang Cam Village.
He was single and served his country for 7 months and 17 days and was KIA # 33,996.
He had been in Vietnam for 1 month and 22 days.
Frederick was 18 years, 10 months and 17 days old.
Survived by his father, Frederick Horridge of 2169 West 245th St, Lomita, CA and his mother; Greta F Horridge of 3519 West 113th St, Englewood, CA.
