James W. Thompson, a pioneer of this county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. C. Wright, in Weidman October 12, 1905, aged 78 years. He was born in New York state and his wife died three years ago. He was a soldier in the war of the rebellion and took part in the battle of Antietam. The funeral was held at the church in Sherman City Sunday last, the F. M. minister conducting the services. Interment in Sherman City cemetery. Mr. Thompson leaves two sons, William and John of Sherman, and four daughters, Mrs. S. C. Wright and Mrs. Ella Degroat of Weidman, Mrs. James Wood of Osceola county and Mrs. Wm. Crossett, besides many grandchildren and great grandchildren to mourn his loss.
