Joseph was my great-great-grandfather. He was born in St. Remi, Quebec, Canada to Noel Couture and Cecile Adam. He married Sarah Maria Gagnon on July 26, 1868 at St. Patrick Church, Chateaugay, Franklin County, New York. Both of their children, Elmira and Moise, were born in New York.

They eventually settled in Michigan and farmed in the Reeman area of Newaygo County.

Joseph's brothers and sisters of record are: Noel, Adolphe, Jean Baptiste, Israel, Malvina, Celina, and Elise.

He died at Little Sisters of the Poor in Grand Rapids, MI. It was apparently a home for the aged.

Joseph & Sarah are buried with a grandson, Gilbert Klinkner, who was killed in WWI in France.
