April 8, 1935 -- Jan. 14, 2-15
Howard J. Hayhurst Jr., 79, of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at his residence. He had formerly been employed by Alcan and also as a correctional officer for the State of Indiana.
He was born April 8, 1935, in Terre Haute, the son of Howard J. Hayhurst Sr. and Grace Brokaw Hayhurst.
Surviving are his wife, Mary; two sons, Howard J. (Jona) Hayhurst III, and John (Patricia) Hayhurst, all of Terre Haute; a daughter, Rebekah (Tracy) Page of Florida; a sister, Rebecca Williams of Terre Haute; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Hayhurst.
He was a 1953 graduate of Garfield High School and served this nation in the US Marine Corps.
Burial will be private at the South Vigo "Black" Cemetery, rural Clark County, Ill. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pearce Funeral Home, in Marshall, Ill. Online condolences are being accepted at:
