Frederick Henry Bradley
Birth: Sep. 27, 1876
Death: Mar. 10, 1943

South African War Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Driver in the 69th Battery Royal Field Artillery. During actions at Ita, South Africa, on September 26, 1901, there was a call for volunteers to carry ammunition to artillery positions up the hill. Driver Bradley with a gunner volunteered. As they moved forward over a space of about 150 yards swept by a heavy cross-fire, the gunner fell wounded. Driver Bradley with another gunner, ran out and carried the injured man back to cover. Then Driver Bradley, with another volunteer, succeeded in getting the ammunition up the hill. For gallantry in the face of the enemy, he was awarded the Victoria Cross Medal and later achieved the rank of Captain. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
