T-Sgt. Porter W. Broadwater, 32, of Dan's Mountain, on the Island of Leyte in the Philippines, November 20.
T-Sgt. Boadwater was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Broadwater, of Dan's Mountain near Lonaconing. He entered the armed forces September 26, 1942, and was trained at Camp Wheeler, Ga., and Camp Breckenridge, Ky. Before going into action on Leyte he was stationed in New Guinea. His last letter home was dated November 17.
A former coal miner, T-Sgt. Broadwater has a brother in the Navy, Yeoman Third Class Ray Broadwater, with the Atlantic fleet. Other survivors, include a brother Owen Broadwater, of Lonaconing; and a sister, Mrs. Lola Fairgrieve, Potomac Park. His brother-in-law, T-5 Lee Fairgrieve, is serving in France.
