Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Mon. at Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Halma, MN. Visitation will be after 6 P.M. Sun. with a 7 P.M. prayer service at Collins Funeral Chapel, Karlstad, and at the church one hour prior to services Mon. Military honors will be accorded.

Arlo Duane Spilde, the son of the late Theodore and Pauline (Oien) Spilde, was born on June 29, 1932, at Hallock, MN. He attended school and grew to manhood in the Halma community and was baptized and confirmed at Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Halma where he was a life-long member. Arlo served with the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955, serving in Germany. Following discharge, he returned to Halma and on June 22, 1958, was united in marriage to Erlyce Souder in Halma. The couple made their home there until 1985, then moved to Karlstad where Arlo has since resided. Erlyce passed away March 19, 2000. Arlo's past 12 years were spent with a very special friend, Adeline Grahn. Arlo drove school bus for many years and also worked for Western Potato. He was an accomplished carpenter and worked in construction for Folland Construction among others over the years. He was a past commander of the Halma-Lake Bronson American Legion post and presently a member of the Karlstad American Legion Post, as well as of the Kennedy V.F.W. Post. Arlo had been in failing health for the past year and passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, on Thursday morning, October 17, 2013, at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 18 days.

He is survived by three sons: Alan (Carol) Spilde, of Thief River Falls, MN; Todd Spilde, of Lake Placid, Fl; and Troy (Heidi) Spilde, Reedsburg, WI; one daughter: Arla (Oscar) Meyer, of Crookston, MN; 7 grandchildren: Amber, Randi, Casey, Alisha, Ashly, Kelsey, and Karlee; one great-grandson: Ryder; one brother: Paul (Lil) Spilde, in South Dakota; special friend: Adeline Grahn; sister-in-law: Jeanie Spilde, of Ada, MN; in addition to many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Arlo was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers: Keith and Tilman; and one sibling in infancy.
