John Washington 'J.W.' Rogers
Funeral for John Washington, "J.W." Rogers, 79, of Decatur will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Rollins and the Rev. Sandra Locke Godbey officiating.
Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends this afternoon from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.
Mr. Rogers died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at his home. He was born June 14, 1922, in Decatur to Henry D. Rogers and Ora B. Roberts Rogers. He was retired from Fruehauf Corp. and was a member of Johnson Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Rogers was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Ora Rogers; one son, John G. Rogers of Decatur; one brother, Lewie Rogers of Danville; two sisters, Eloise Livingston of Battle Creek, Mich. and Danny McCarley of Muscle Shoals; and one grandson.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
