Walter E. French Dead


Walter E. French, who lived alone at 709 Walnut, was found dead in his garage by a neighbor Wednesday afternoon. It is believed Mr. French died two days previously . Coroner O.D. Harris ruled that the death was from natural causes, presumably from a heart attack, as Mr. French was about to enter his car.


Funeral services will be held in the McVey chapel at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning. The Rev. M.S. Vandevort, pastor of the United Presbyterian church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery.


Mr. French was born March 23, 1875 at Taunton, Mass., and came t Emporia from Topeka in 1907. He married Bessie May Souders at Richland, Kas., February 5, 1902. She died in Emporia, March 9 of this year. He is survived by seven children. They are Miss Eva French, New York City; Mrs. A.E. Zarb-Mizzi, New York City; Seth French, Tulsa, Okla., Robert French, Caldwell, Tex., Mrs. L.E. Lauer, Leavenworth; David French, New York City; Mrs. William Peel, Fort Worth. Tex.


Mr. French was a retired Santa Fe engineer, and he was a member of the B. of L.E. He also was a member if the Masonic lodge at Strong City and the United Spanish War Veterans.

Rites for W. E. French


Funeral services for Walter E. French, 709 Walnut, who died June 3, were held at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning in the McVey chapel. The Rev. M.S. Vandevort, Jr., pastor of the United Presbyterian church, conducted the services. Theodore C. Owen sang, accompanied by Mrs. H.W. Richmond. Pallbearers were O.W. Lobinger, O.J. McCants, Bert Spurrier, Dan Sharpe, H.G. Porter, GR. Jones, R.W. Clow, G.R. Collins. Burial was in Memorial Lawn cemetery.


Out-of-town persons in attending were Miss Eva French, Mrs. Alfred Zarb-Mizzi, New York City; Mr. and Mrs. Seth French, Tulsa; Mr. and Mrs. Robert French, Caldwell, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Lauer, Leavenworth; David French, New York City; Mrs. William Peel, Fort Worth, Texas; Miss Catherine Souders, Kansas City, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. W.A.
