Philip Joseph DeMarco
Philip Joseph DeMarco, recently of Blackshear, Ga., passed away Wednesday (April 13, 2011) at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., from complications due to injuries sustained in a car accident in front of his home July 29, 2007.
He was a native of Franklin, N.J., and a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Fla., and Roswell, Ga. He was the first child of Ann and Philip Dignardi, of Rome, Ga.
As a very young man he served in the U.S. Army at the end of the Vietnam era. Following military service he entered law enforcement, serving as a police officer, private investigator and in forensics during his career.
At the time of his catastrophic life-altering car accident he worked as a loss prevention agent with Beall's for the southeast Georgia region.
Philip, along with his wife Patricia, enjoyed simple living, traveling, art and photography. The DeMarcos are members of World Harvest Church of God in Waycross. He will always be remembered for his undying strength and drive for living.
His cousin, Scott Mangone, and sister in-law, JoAnn Marie DeLessio, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; parents, Ann and Philip Dignardi; brothers, Michael, Mark and Steven Dignardi; sisters Cindy Beeman and Dawn Mele and their families, in-laws, Isabel and Phillip DeLessio, Phil Jr. (wife Susan), children Danielle, Dana and Jake, Mark DeLessio, best man and best friend, Christopher DeLessio; several loving, loyal friends; and extended family and pets, Bandit, Trisha Dee, Archie Bear, Peaches Marie, Jolena Bea and Chance Man.
A memorial service will take place at Harvest Church of God, 3205 Memorial Drive,Waycross, with Pastor Daniel Rhodes officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family of the deceased through World Harvest Church of God.
