New Market Cadet In October of 1864 he joined the Norfolk Light Artillery Blues and was later was captured around Petersburg. Sent to Point Lookout, he was released on June 11, 1865. After the War he attended U.Va. He was admitted to the bar as an attorney in 1868. He moved to Mississippi and then Alabama, where he met and married Clara Vernon Pollard in 1871. They came to Lower Bremo, where they had seven children.
