Officer Ross H. Kaylor was a member of the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC.

Circumstance: Motorman Kaylor was chasing a suspected whiskey runner, when he struck a street car at Stanton Park. Officer Kaylor suffered a compound fracture to his leg and died on the scene from a massive head trauma.

The service for Officer Kaylor was held at Arlington National Cemetery, with the services being conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Front Line Post Number 1401. The Reverend Francis J. Hurney officiating. Front Line Post 1401 was also represented by Post Commander Joseph Gardella, Senior Vice Commander Harry J. Hooley, Junior Vice Commander Floyd G. Caskey and Auxiliary President Mrs. Clay Keene Miller.

A United States Marine Corps firing party was present and led by a Gunnery Sergeant. Officer Kaylor was a veteran of the Marine Corps, and had obtained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

The pallbearers were fellow motorcycle officers, O. R. Sanders, E. Williams, F. L. Rawlinson, W. C. Lewis, J. D. Martin and C. C. Johnson.

Note: Stanton Park is bordered by 4th street to the west, 6th street to the east and C Street to the north and south, in the northeast quadrant of the city.
