Jacob came from Wuerttemburg (according to the Adolf Gerber List) or Weisenberg, a small village in northeast Rhineland-Pfatz near the city of Koblenz. He emigrated to American on the ship "Nancy" with Capt. John Ewing, landing in Philadelphia on September 27, 1752. The ship came from Rotterdam via Cowes, England. His company was involved in many skirmishes with the Delaware Indians around the Blue Mountain area of Berks and Northhampton (now Lehigh) Counties. He was on duty with the command in Heidelberg Twp., Northampton County during March and April, 1758, protecting the people against Indian raids.

He was a farmer, weaver and a beekeeper and resided at Stoney Run (Wessnersville) near Kempton, Albany Township, Berks Co., PA. A John Neifert was among the remonstrants of Berks County that opposed calling a convention in 1779.

His will (written in old German script) was written November 1810, probated 27 July, 1812, Will Book A, page 601. Notes and bonds totaled $1,839.11, the proceeds from clothing and furniture amounted to $392.35. Assets were appraised at 1,952 pounds, 3 shillings.
