Discharged 21 Mar 1919, and died a few months later. He was 21 years old.

Cecil W. Harris, who has been at the university hospital at Iowa City since Oct. 6, died this morning following several operations for radical mastoid trouble. Word of his death was received in the city this morning. His mother, Mrs. Nora Harris, and brother Caryl have been with him during his recent illness.
Mr. Harris contracted mastoid trouble while he was in the army but was not seriously ill until a few weeks ago, when he was taken to Iowa City for treatment. Mr. Harris enlisted in the army May 23, 1917, and was discharged March 21, 1919, spending fourteen months overseas.
Besides his mother and brother, who were with him at Iowa City, Mr. Harris leaves two sisters, Mrs. Vance Harris and Miss Mae Harris, in this city. The body will arrive in the city tonight or tomorrow morning, and no funeral arrangements will be made until that time. Mr. Harris would have been 22 years of age December 19."

The funeral of Cecil W. Harris who died at Iowa City Tuesday morning, following several weeks' illness from radical mastoid trouble, will be held at the Riverside Methodist church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. C. A. Richards will have charge of the services.
Members of his Sunday class will be honorary pall bearers.
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Harris of Howard, S. D., grandparents of the young man, Mrs. Kate Gardner of Atlantic and Mrs. Rose Luce of Alma, Neb., are in the city to attend the funeral. Mrs. Jennie Barton of Falls City, Neb., and Mrs. Leota Herpst of Falls City are expected in the city tomorrow.
