MANSFIELD: Kathryn C. Heenan, 101, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at her residence. Born January 12, 1910 in Clarksburg, WV, she was the daughter of Jessie E. and Lenore (Yerkey) Clovis. She received her teacher's degree in 1947 and started teaching in Clarksburg, WV. She then taught for 18 years in Morgantown, WV, two years in Tokyo, Japan from 1957 - 1958 and in Mansfield from 1958-1975 retiring from Hedges School in 1975. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Morgantown, WV, was a charter member of Richland Lithic and Lapidary Society, a member of the Business and Professional Women of West Virginia, the Ohio Archaeology Society, the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, the Richland County Retired Teachers and the Audubon Society. Kathryn loved teaching and shared her experience of world travel with her students, touching many lives.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Barbara Heenan of Mansfield; grandchildren, Jim (Mary) Heenan of Lucas, Wendy (Doug) Fox of Lexington, Debbie Trainer of Mansfield, Diane (Craig) Sloey of Mansfield and Julie (Carlos) Arthur of Danville; 17 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren; a nephew, Chuck Clovis of West Virginia and two nieces, Kathy Belmer of Indiana and Kim Clovis of West Virginia; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Clovis Chase of Morgantown, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1940, Charles K. Heenan whom she married in 1930; a son, Charles K. Heenan, II; and a brother, Jessie F. Clovis.

There will be no calling hours or services at this time. Per Mrs. Heenan's wishes, her body was donated to The Ohio State University Department of Anatomy. Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Kathryn C. Heenan.
