Birth: Sep. 30, 1832
New Jersey, USA
Death: Oct. 1, 1908
Colorado, USA

Founder and namesake for the now defunct town of Husted, Colorado.

Calvin Husted, a settler from New Jersey, arrived in the Pikes Peak region in 1859. He set up a lumber mill in 1866 north of Colorado Springs and six miles south of Monument, Colorado. It was about where the north entrance to the United States Air Force Acadamy is currently. His mill operated through 1878. Husted's lumber operation was one of the largest in the region and employed quite a few workers. Timber from the Black Forest area was brought here, cut, and used to build the railroads, as well as homes in Colorado Springs.

Married to Amanda Talbert Husted.

Calvin had two sons and three daughters; Herbert, Walter, Frances, Grace and a daughter who died young.

Husted was also the site of a 1909 train wreck where 2 trains collided head-on where 10 people died and dozens were injured.
