John was the only child of Jesse Boyd and Mary A.C. Williams. (Jesse died in 1864 and Mary married his brother, Levy, c1865.)
John married Annie Laurie Beard (dau. of John E. Beard & Rebecca Ann Thornhill) April 3, 1879, and they had thirteen children.
