She kept a diary all through the years, this being the source for much information concerning her siblings. She corresponded with her future husband, James Allen Dodd, all during his military career, and they were married on December 7, 1865, soon after he returned from Appomattox. She died in Greenville, SC, and was first buried in Springwood Cemetery there; however, her remains were later moved to Oakwood in Spartanburg, to lie beside her husband's body. At her passing, she was survived by her husband and five daughters (Minnie Ardella Dodd Foster; Lillian Elizabeth Dodd Clement; Ada Mae Dodd Brewer; Amelia Dean Dodd Bishop; and Nannie Owen Dodd Benjamin). She was predeceased by a daughter, Jennie Earl Dodd.
