Reverend John Benjamin Poole, C.S.A., was born on 18 Jun 1834 in Pacelot Springs, Spartanburg, SC, and died on 11 Apr 1925 in Hall County, GA. He was buried in Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
John enlisted as 1st Sergeant with Company I, 24th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, CSA, Hall County, Georgia, known as "Glade Guards Volunteer Rifles," and was elected 2nd Lieutenant on May 6, 1864. He was wounded between the eyes at Sharpsburg, Virginia, on May 12, 1864, and was captured at Deep Bottom, Virginia, on August 16, 1864, but was released at Fort Delaware in Delaware on June 17, 1865.
He was married to Samaria Martin on 3 Apr 1853 in Hall County, GA. Reverend John Benjamin Poole and Samaria had the following children:
