Funeral Services held for Inger Nelsen

Funeral services for Inger Nelsen, who passed away June 18, were held Monday, June 22, 2 p.m., at the Diamond Lake Lutheran church. The Rev. Arley Fadness officiated at the service. Interment was in the Diamond Lake cemetery with Utoft-Johansen Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Inger Nelsen

Services were held Monday, June 22nd, at 2 p.m., at Diamond Lake Church, Lake Benton, for Inger Nelsen, who passed away Thursday, June 18th at San Luis hospital, Calif, following a stroke and lingering illness the past seven months. The past three weeks she was hospitalized.

Pastor Arley Fadness officiated at the services. Mrs. Bessie Johansen was the organist. Pall bearers were Glenn Nelsen, Arnold Nelsen, Raymond Johnson, Gerald Johanson, Lloyd Dahl and Eldon Kragh.

Interment was in Diamond Lake Cemetery.

Services were also held at Zion Lutheran Church, San Luis Obispo, Calif. Saturday, June 20th, where she was a member.

Inger Georgina Nelsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thue Bornhoft, was born June 10, 1882 in Clinton, Ia. The family later moved to the vicinity of Lake Benton and Tyler, where they were engaged in farming. Inger was united in marriage to Nels Nelsen in Nebraska in 1902. They farmed in the Arco, Tyler and Lake Benton communities for several years. Ten children were born to this union. In 1947, Mrs. Nelsen moved to San Luis Obispo, California to live with her daughter, Elva. She enjoyed making quilt blocks, sewing and writing up to shortly before her death. She had attained the age of 88 years, and 8 days.

Left to mourn her passing are three sons: Albert, Sioux City, IA.; Harry, Slayton; Richard of Lake Benton; six daughters, Mrs. Helen and Metta (Mrs. Hubert Johnson) of Lake Benton; Edna (Mrs. Harold Kragh), Montevideo; Dagmar (Mrs. George Wiesman), Phoenix, Ariz.; Laura (Mrs. Roy Barnes) Spokane, Wash.; and Elva (Mrs. Elmer Mier) San Luis Obispo, Calif.; two brothers, Harry and Andrew Bornhoft, both from Tyler; two sisters, Mrs. Kris Sandager, Fairbault, and Mrs. Jens Jensen, Solvang, Calif.; 54 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and one grandchild.

Relatives attended from Sioux City, Clinton,Ia.; Fairbault, Northfield, Tyler, Minneapolis, Montevideo, Slayton, Circle Pines, Bird Island, Pine City, Minn.; and Wayne, Nebr.
