Reed, Donna L. ALTAMONT Donna L. Reed, 66, died on June 3, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rensselaer on August 20, 1946 to Adelbert R. Kiernan and Arline LaTour Kiernan. She was a lifelong resident of Guilderland. Donna was dedicated to a family business, the Guilderland Center Nursing Home for more than 20 years, caring and compassionate towards the elderly. She was also an interior designer from the NY School of Design. She enjoyed many years volunteering for the Community Caregivers and St. Lucy's Food Pantry. As an active parishioner of the Christ the King Church, she was also involved in their prayer shawl ministry. Donna was very creative and enjoyed knitting, sewing, and always doing special projects with her grandchildren. Her family dogs were very special to her- they were always by her side. Donna was predeceased by her devoted husband, James, of 43 years. Survived by two wonderful children, a daughter, Jill (James) Sheehan and a son, James II. She was a devoted "Oma" to her grandchildren, Morgan K. Reed, Quinton, Riley and Kieran Sheehan. Also survived by her special sisters, Dana, (Tung) Cai and Dawn (Mike) Sullivan, and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 6, 2013, 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church, Guilderland, N.Y. There will be no calling hours. The Interment will be private at the Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to make a memorial contribution in Donna's memory may do so to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
