Raymond Wesley Evans, 87, of Powhatan, passed away peacefully at his home on December 11, 2013. He was born in Blassburg, PA. on June 15, 1926 to Raymond J. & Lila Lewis Evans and he was the oldest of eight children. He was a Greyhound bus driver for over 30 years and he loved being on the road. After retirement he continued driving by taking his grandchildren on cross county trips in a camper. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Bunn Evans; children, Keith Evans (Susanne) of Nokesville, Debbie Upson of Powhatan, Dawn Lipscomb (Dale) of Louisa; sister, Wilma Saunders of Pa.; brothers, Alden Evans of Pa.. Merlin Evans of Utah; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Rusty. He was preceded in death by one son, Eugene Evans. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 pm in the St. Luke's Episcopal Church Parrish Hall and where a memorial service will be held Monday 11 am. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
