"Independence Township: Shaun M. Beresford lost his life long battle against Cystic Fibrosis on Tuesday December 8, 2015. He was 31 years of age.

Shaun was born and raised in Wharton to William and Suzanne (De Haan) Beresford. He attended the Duffy and Mackinnon schools and Morris Hills High School in Rockaway, then Morris County College.

Shaun was a great Son, Father and Friend to all that knew him and the world lost a truly good person. He fought a courageous battle that inspired many people. He had a great sense of humor and never let his Cystic Fibrosis get in the way. He was always fun to hang around with. Shaun was a Wharton fireman and an EMT with the Wharton First Aid Squad, until he moved to Independence Township, in 2011. He was a 911 operator with the Warren County Communication Center for 6 years. Before that he was a 911 operator with the Randolph Police Department for 4 years. Shaun was always willing to help anyone who needed it.

Shaun was predeceased by his father, William Beresford, on September 30, 2005. His maternal Grandparents, Jacob and Roslyn DeHaan Jr. and Paternal Grandfather Roland “pop” Beresford also his grandfather in-law Stanislaw Fugas.

Shaun is survived by his Wife of 3 years Angelika (Guzik) Beresford, 10 month old Son William Beresford, Mother Suzanne DeHaan of Wharton, Uncle Charles DeHaan, Aunts Kathy Cross and Gwen DeHaan and 8 cousins. Shaun is also survived his Mother in law and Father in law, Sofia and Jan Guzik , Brother in law Robert Guzik and Grandmother in law Anna Fugas, all of Parsippany, and lifelong best friend and Brother, Doug Godfrey.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at SS Peter & Paul Church in Great Meadows. Interment will follow at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows.
